If we could describe this week’s Film Club in one word it would be eclectic (see this week’s writeup of Total Recall for more one-word reviews). Leading the charge is Lawless, the Depression-era drama starring Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf. On the opposite end of the spectrum there’s sci-fi spectacular Dredd, with extravagant costume drama Anna Karenina a world away again.
This week’s final pick is Adam Sandler comedy That’s My Boy. Can he redeem himself post-Jack and Jill? That’s for you guys to decide…
But just what is this Film Club malarkey all about? It’s simples, really. Each week we send a pair of cinema tix (ODEON or Cineworld, whichever is best) to 10 of our most active Facebook/Twitter followers. We put the film we’re going to see to the vote, and the winning film is the one we all go to see. Then we all sit around on Facebook on the Sunday night (6.30) and chat about it. Magic.
