Will Ferrell is back in action this week with election comedy The Campaign. Here are a few rib-tickling facts about one of our fave Hollywood funnymen:
• His name isn’t actually Will, or even William. It’s John.
• His dad played keyboards for The Righteous Brothers.
• His degree is in Sports Information. Nope, we’re clueless too.
• He did all his own singing in Step Brothers.
• Apparently hates appearing in public (ie, in interviews) as himself. Consequently he’s kind of awkward…aww.
• Beat out Steve Carell for a role on Saturday Night Live.
• Hates doing stand-up and avoids it wherever possible.
• Only seven years younger than Jane Lynch, who once played his mama.
• Was given the fake testicles from Step Brothers as a wrap present. They’re worth more than 20 grand!
• Writers on his movies estimate 88% of his dialogue ends up improvised. Taxi for screenwriter…
• Learned to ice skate for Blades of Glory
• Invited 1,580 pals to dress up as superheroes to promote Megamind, setting a Guinness World Record in the process.
• Turned down $29million to make a sequel to Elf. Someone’s not short of a bob or two!
• Has appeared shirtless or almost-nude in most of his movies.
• Will is the highest-paid actor never to have won an Oscar.
