Yeah baby!

With everyone’s favourite Friend, Jennifer Aniston, set to star in artificial insemination rom-com ‘The Switch’ this September, it’s time for FTRC to take a pregnant pause and review how our leading ladies have been getting knocked up of late…

Ms Aniston – alternately portrayed in the tabloids as a man-starved cougar and childless desperado – is not the first actress this summer to tackle on-screen impregnation a la turkey baster.

In ‘The Back-Up Plan’, B-film favourite Jennifer Lopez starred as a 30-something singleton who chooses to go it alone after a string of Mr Not-So-Muches. Hollywood movie ‘n’ all, who does JLo bump into 5 minutes later but Mr Right.

Comedic goddess Tina Fey tackled the issue of surrogacy in the quirky 2008 flick ‘Baby Mama’, with Amy Poehler chosen to carry the blessed offspring. A lesson in what not to expect when you’re expecting!

In Judd Apatow’s uber-popular ‘Knocked Up’, Katherine Heigl kicked it old school with the time-honoured drunken one-night stand turned lasting love story. Kids: don’t try this at home.

We here at FTRC are intrigued to see if this baby boom continues. Who will be next to roll out the pushchair? And in amongst the spate of 80′s movies, might we be seeing an adaptation of ‘She’s Having a Baby’?
