Looks like The Great Gatsby has competition for this year’s best looking period drama if this first trailer for Anna Karenina is anything to go by. It. Is. GORGEOUS.
Starring Keira Knightley as the titular heroine, the flick tells the story of a Russian aristocrat trapped in a loveless marriage, who unwittingly destroys her own life when she embarks on a mad, passionate affair. You know the type, right? The movie itself is conceived as a stage show in a deliberately false world and looks nothing short of stunning.
Also starring Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, Emily Watson, Domhnall Gleeson, Ruth Wilson, Holliday Grainger and Olivia Williams, Anna Karenina is released on 7 September.
