Seeking a Friend for the End of the World looks like a cracker. Starring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley, it hits UK screens in July.
The film is Lorene Scafaria’s directorial debut, following her first writing effort, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, in 2008. She’s rallied an impressive supporting cast including Adam Brody, Melanie Lynskey, Patton Oswalt, William Peterson, Gillian Jacobs, Connie Britton, Rob Corddry, and T.J. Miller.
Set in a too-near future, a man searches for a meaningful connection as humanity’s last days are at hand. Can he find his greatest love at the worst possible time? As the respective journeys of Dodge (Steve Carell) and Penny (Keira Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.
