Russell Crowe as a beardy, cross-faced Noah

It’s hard to tell if Russell Crowe’s spin as Noah in Darren Aronofsky’s 2014 bible-flick will test his acting chops as the first image just shows him looking crotchety.

Penned by John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo) and Aronofsky, unlike most retellings of bible story the film will feature giant angels called ‘Watchers’.

Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and – wait for it – Ray Winstone also costar.

Noah is scheduled to arrive on UK screens March 28, 2014.
