Watch 6 minutes of Anna Karenina

Ever since we heard that Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina was going to be shot entirely on one location (a rundown theatre, of all places) we knew it was going to be different from the average period flick. We got a first peek at just how different thanks to the first trailer, and now six whole minutes of the film has landed on the interwebs. It’s certainly unusual, but we kinda love it.

Official synopsis-a-rama:

The third collaboration of Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley with director Joe Wright, following the award-winning boxoffice successes “Pride & Prejudice” and “Atonement,” is the epic love story “Anna Karenina,” adapted from Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard. The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.

Anna Karenina stars Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Matthew Macfadyen and Kelly MacDonald. It’s released in the UK on 7 September.
